In the beginning gold crowns were a fix. What was a fix is now a fashion. How did this fashion start? Who started it and where is it going? “Smile For Me” is a two hour special about the famous “Plein” family and others like them. Eddie Plein started making gold grills in the early eighties and thus the epidemic began. Siblings Orlando, Eddie, Imro and Claudette Plein are the most talented family in the gold grills business. Together they have done grills for Flava Flav, Goodie Mob, Romeo, Master P, Just Ice, Ludacris, Field Mob, Snoop Dogg, Alen Iverson and that’s just to name a few.
The Documentary will be filmed around the nation in the cities where the gold grill style and fashion is
most Prevalent. These cities include but are not limited to Miami, New York, Atlanta, Houston, Oakland,
Detroit, Chicago, New Orleans and Memphis. The Pleins work in Atlanta, New York and Miami.
The cast will feature the creators of these grills and some of the hip hop worlds biggest and brightest
stars as well as sports players, actors and the everyday citizen.
The Pleins have been doing grills for celebrities and the general public since the early eighties and hae watched the style evolve and become A major fashion statement in today’s hip hop and entertainment world. In this documentary we will profile the popularity and success of gold grillz in and out of the entertainment Industry. While taking you from day one to some of today’s top grillers, Paul Wall and TV Johnny Dang from Houston, to Ben Baller and Icee Fresh in Los Angeles.
